Josh and I met in a really weird and random way. I think it was in spring. I was 14 and Josh was 15. I had a best friend at the time named Tanya. Tanya and I were boy crazy.
When we were young teenagers AOL-Instant Messenger was "the thing." We spent a lot of time talking on the internet with each other instead of tying up the phone lines (which I guess we still were since we had dial-up then.) At the time, Tanya recently had a big crush on a boy named Josh C, who had just moved away from our school (Josh C, was not the Josh we know and all love. The boy Tanya had a crush on was a completely different person.)
On AOL there was a feature where you could find people you knew and reconnect with them via instant messaging. So me being the great friend I was decided to help her look for her long lost love. As we were both scrambling through the Josh C's in our area, Tanya came across a Josh Clemson. She told me about it and how he lived pretty close, in Geneva. So she started talking to him and he decided to play a joke on her. I don't remember what it was, but I recall it being incredibly funny of which I laughed at her later. I started to talk to Josh too.
A few months went by and I talked to Josh pretty much every single day online. Tanya and Josh started "dating," but I kind of new I had a little crush on him the entire time. (I found out later he did too. and had always wish I would have been the first to find him.) One day, We decided to all call each other on the phone using the three-way line. This was the first time hearing Josh and right off the bat I loved his voice. A few more weeks went by and Josh and I talked more and more. He and Tanya broke up and I could tell Josh was upset by this, (anyone would be when they break up with their first "girlfriend") I didn't know which side to take, my old pal Tanya's or my new teenage infatuation and friend, Josh.
As you can tell I chose Josh. We started talking on the phone every day and became quick best friends. On November 8, 2003 Josh and I went ice skating together, this being our first date and Anniversary. I was 15 and Josh was 16 the first time we told each other we loved one another. It seems so young and silly, but Josh and I connected so easily from the first time we ever spoke. He is my absolute best friend and I have no doubt in my mind the "I Love You" I gave him then, is the same "I Love You" I give him now. I've always known I loved Josh, and I always will.
